Blackburn Rovers boss discusses recent form amid fall to 18th place

Blackburn Rovers manager Tony Mowbray has questioned whether or not his side’s current form is a concern or not after they dropped to 18th place at the weekend after losing 2-1 to Leeds United.

Blackburn Rovers had hoped to be further up the Championship table by this point of the season, as they hoped to bridge the gap from mid-table and push for a spot in the play-offs this season.

However, having lost half of their matches they currently sit in 18th place, 10 points away from the play-offs and five points away from the relegation zone.

But speaking to the Lancashire Telegraph, manager Tony Mowbray has insisted that he and his squad are still confident that they can get onto a good streak and bring themselves back into contention. The Rovers boss said:

“Is it a concern? I judge the team on their performance levels. No-one likes losing football matches. If we were getting rolled over easily every game then that would be a concern but I don’t think that’s the case.

“I think they still believe, they keep pushing hard. If we can stick three back-to-back wins together we’ll be right back in the mix and I think that’s what we have to keep believing that we’re not far away.

“We need to reverse that and be saying we’ve won six out of eight and then suddenly you’re on the cusp of the play-offs. That’s this league. Anyone can beat anyone and we just have to keep going.”
