Five players Michael O’Neill could sign for Stoke City

Michael O’Neill is set to become the new manager of Championship side Stoke City. Here are five players he could sign for the Potters in January:

Bailey Peacock-Farrell, Burnley- The goalkeeping position has been a problem for Stoke this season and they could look for a stopper this winter. O’Neill knows the ex-Leeds United man from Northern Ireland and with his game time at Burnley limited, could he try and bring him to the Bet365 Stadium on loan?

Liam Donnelly, Motherwell- O’Neill recalled him into the international set-up last month. The 23-year-old is in fine form this season having scored nine goals in 14 appearances so far this season in all competitions. He would add more options and depth into Stoke’s midfield.

Shane Ferguson, Millwall- He still has a couple of years left on his contract at The Den but O’Neill is a big fan of the left-sided midfielder. The 28-year-old is experienced in the Championship now and could potentially be a target for his former Northern Ireland boss.

Jordan Thompson, Blackpool- Stoke need some stability and players for the future and Thompson could fit the bill for them. The 22-year-old, who has previously played for Rangers, has had an impressive spell at Blackpool over the past season-and-a-half and looks to have a bright future ahead of him in the game.

Liam Boyce, Burton Albion- The Potters are crying out for a goal scorer and Boyce could be the man. He has scored seven goals so far for the League One side this term, having bagged 14 in the last campaign.
