Huddersfield’s caretaker manager has been also expected to take the job by some punters. With him being Mark Robins’ assistant, a successful spell as caretaker could easily see him take the job on a permanent basis with him already settled into his surroundings. Thompson has had caretaker spells on two occasions at Blackpool and now faces a real task on his hands with a flurry of fixtures coming up in the next few weeks.
If he is to make an impression to land the job, he has to do it quickly and has to make sure he does it right.
