Owls man on Giggs’ radar for Welsh International duties

Sheffield Wednesday have enjoyed a good start under new boss Garry Monk, with a clear and obvious turn in player performance and an impressive upturn in form. But will the current crop of players at Hillsborough be enough to sustain a prolonged assault on play-off football come May?

It has been obvious to most that players such as Adthe Nuhiu, Massimo Luongo, Kieren Westwood and Joey Pelupessy have stepped up their game since Monks’ appointment and the team have found themselves in the mix within the higher echelons of The Championship already.

Another player that has attracted the attentions in a positive way is left-back Morgan Fox, who has the eyes of Wales manager Ryan Giggs watching him intently as the Welshman looks to secure a passage to Euro 2020 according to The Star.

Fox (26) already has seven caps to his name for Wales U21’s, but has never had a senior outing.

In an interview with The Star earlier in the year, Fox made his feelings regarding a call up clear…

“It is an ambition of mine (to play for Wales) and hopefully that will come.

“I’ve always said that if I’m doing well with my football here and playing games then hopefully I will get that opportunity.”

Following Fox winning the ‘Player of the Month’ award for The Owls in October, natural progression would be an international call up should his impressive form continue.

Apt recognition for a defence that has conceded less Championship goals at home than any other club this season with only three, the Sheffield Wednesday fans have reason to be cautiously optimistic for their future endeavours.
