Preston North End midfielder could be in line for potential move to Burnley

Preston North End midfielder Ben Pearson is being chased by Burnley with boss Sean Dyche ready to raid the Championship high-fliers according to The Sun.

Dyche is allegedly a huge fan of Pearson and could potentially make a move for him in the January transfer window.

Alex Neil’s Preston are top of the table after 15 games after an impressive start to the season but with their players showing such good form this has alerted top flight clubs who could look to make a move for some of their star names.

Sean Dyche is hoping to add some extra energy to the heart of the Clarets midfield and Pearson would certainly provide that having been one of the regulars on the team teamsheet in the last few seasons for the Lilywhites.

Despite having found the net just once in two-and-a-half-years, Pearson’s great form is attracting the interest of top flight clubs.

However, it is believed that Preston would look for at least £10million for their star midfielder which may make Burnley baulk, with him not having had any previous top flight experience and still being relatively unknown in the upper echelons of English football.

Burnley and Sean Dyche have been linked with Pearson for a number of years but the transfer has never materialised but he will now be hoping he can capture the midfielder to ensure they don’t begin to look over their shoulder in the Premier League having recently fell to 14th in the table following a 3-0 defeat to Sheffield United on Saturday.

There has also been interest from the likes of Brighton and Bristol City in the past for Pearson but the 24-year-old has remained at Deepdale but their stance on wanting to retain him could be tested if the Clarets do indeed come knocking.
