There were several teams that stood out on the opening weekend of the 2014/15 Sky Bet Football League season in all three divisions. Not quite making the six, Ipswich impressed in Sky’s evening game against recently relegated Fulham, winning 2-1 thanks to goals from Daryl Murphy & David McGoldrick. In League One, Chesterfield proved they weren’t going to be pushovers by dispatching playoff runners-up Leyton Orient. Goals from debutant Romuald Boco & striker Eoin Doyle saw them through the game, despite a late goal from Darius Henderson for the home side. Notts County took a point away from Deepdale, and were only denied all 3 points from a goal from Preston’s top scorer from last season Joe Garner. In a clash of recently relegated sides, Doncaster thumped their hosts Yeovil Town 3-0, with goals from Curtis Main, Harry Forrester & Theo Robinson. Meanwhile in League Two,newly promoted Luton travelled the long way up to Cumbria and took all 3 points from Carlisle United, the game contained just the one goal, coming from 22 year old Mark Cullen, sending the large away support home happy.
