Consistency is key for Hull City midfielder

Hull City midfielder Jackson Irvine believes consistency is key if the Tigers are to compete in the top half of the Championship this season.

Grant McCann’s side travel to Fulham this weekend on good form after winning back-to-back games last week against Nottingham Forest and Derby County.

Hull are now 13th in the table and five points off the Play-Offs.

Irvine, who has been a regular in their midfield so far this season, has said, as per the Tigers’ official club website: “There’s probably 13 for 14 teams in the Championship – if not more – that will feel as though they can compete for a top-six spot this season.”

“And they’re probably all capable of doing so as well if they perform consistently. Everyone knows how important consistency is at this level and that will be key for us.”

The Australian international added: “We know that we need to maintain our performance levels week in, week out because as the gaffer always says – if you get the consistency in the performance, the results will follow.”

Every game is tough at this level and every team has their own threats and qualities. We know we’re going to have to be at our very best to get something from the game against what is a very good Fulham side but we know we’re capable of doing just that.”

“We’ll be preparing for the game in the same way as we have every game so far this season. We’ll make our slight adjustments based on their strengths but the main focus will continue to be on our ourselves and our own performance.”
