Huddersfield Town, Swansea City and Derby County keen on Fleetwood Town midfielder

Fleetwood Town midfielder Kyle Dempsey is attracting plenty of Championship interest.

Huddersfield Town, Swansea City and Derby County are all keeping tabs on the 24-year-old, according to a report by Football Insider.

Dempsey is a key asset for Joey Barton’s Fleetwood but is out of contract next summer leaving the Cod Army in a vulnerable position to keep hold of him going into the January transfer window.

The Whitehaven-born midfielder started his career at Carlisle United and rose up through the youth ranks at Brunton Park. He made his first team debut for the Cumbrians in January 2014 in a League One fixture against MK Dons.

Dempsey went onto make 51 appearances for Carlisle as a youngster, chipping in with 11 goals which earned him a move to the Championship with Huddersfield in 2015. The Terriers are now apparently interested in re-signing four years later.

He played 24 times for the Yorkshire side but was loaned out to Fleetwood for the 2016/17 season before they decided to sell him on a permanent basis to the Lancashire side a year later.

Dempsey, who spent part of the last campaign on loan at Peterborough United, has established himself as a key player for Fleetwood under Barton and has played a key part in their rise to the top end of League One.

They will be desperate to keep hold of him this winter, but face strong competition from clubs higher up the football pyramid.
