Turkish giants preparing move for Huddersfield Town man

Fenerbahce are plotting a swoop for Huddersfield Town defender Florent Hadergjonaj.

The Turkish giants have apparently been given the green light to make a move for the right-back in the January transfer window, according to a report by Sport Witness.

Huddersfield may be open to selling him this winter following the free agent signing of full-back Danny Simpson.

Hadergjonaj, who is 25 years-old, has made eight appearances in the Championship for the Terriers so far this season but it is yet to be known whether he is part of new boss Danny Cowley’s long-term plans.

The Kosovo international joined the Yorkshire side in August 2017 from German Bundesliga side Ingolstadt on an initial loan deal which was made permanent.

He made 47 appearances altogether in the Premier League for Huddersfield and helped them stay up in their first season.

Hadergjonaj was born in Switzerland and started his career with spells as a youngster at FC Thun and Luzern before joining Young Boys in 2011. He went onto play 88 times for the Swiss side and won their Player of the Year in 2015.

He moved to Germany to sign for Ingolstadt in August 2016 but they were relegated to the second tier during his only full season there.

Hadergjonaj has split opinion amongst the Huddersfield fans since his move and the club could look to move him on in January to help balance the books, with Fenerbahce believed to be holding a keen interest in signing him.
