Leeds United join the race as they look to swoop for West Brom teenager

Leeds United set to join the race for West Bromwich Albion teenager Nathan Ferguson according to reports from Football Insider.

The Yorkshire club are among many English clubs who have been alerted to the talent of the versatile Baggies defender who has been in impressive form so far this season.

We have reported today that Tottenham Hotspur, Crystal Palace, Atletico Madrid and Juventus are all keeping tabs on the 19-year-old.

The Whites are believed to be arranging some scouting checks for the youngster with them having been impressed with his early season form.

The England Under-20 international has started 11 of West Brom’s 12 Championship matches this season and gone on to play the full 90 minutes in them all.

Slaven Bilic has spoken glowingly of Ferguson but his future is in doubt as his contract expires at the end of the season although the club are in discussions with his representatives in regards to a lucrative new five-year-deal.

West Brom undoubtedly want to keep one of their rising stars in Ferguson and hope to extend his current deal, especially with the club mounting a promotion challenge in the Championship.

Despite plenty of interest from bigger clubs than Leeds they are still confident of mounting a serious charge for him with Ferguson wishing to be assured of first team football rather than watching from the sidelines which he would likely do should he move to one of the giants of the game.

Losing Ferguson would be a huge blow to the Midlands side and they will surely be looking to do all they can to retain one of the best talents in the Championship.
