Stoke City will be eager to build on their first win of the season last time out against Swansea City when they take on Fulham at the Bet365 Stadium today.
Their 2-1 away win at the Liberty Stadium before the international break eased some pressure off manager Nathan Jones.
However, Stoke remain bottom of the Championship after just one win in 11 matches but do go into the match today with some much needed confidence.
Their boss Jones has said, as per a report by Stoke On Trent Live: “We are not out of the woods by any means, but we’ve earned ourselves a little bit of respite, but we have to back that up. The pressure is never different. I don’t mean to be flippant, but there’s far greater things that people worry about in life.”
“But when you give your life and soul to something and it’s something you believe whole-heartedly in, it hurts you when you’re in the position we are. You do have to try and enjoy it and I’ve enjoyed a lot about the pressure. It’s taught me a lot about myself and about certain people around me.”
He continued: “We’d like to come through this time because I’ve learnt the lesson now. I don’t want any more lessons. What I’d like now is a little bit of respite so we can start to build.”
“We believe we are better than where we are, but we have to show that, and if we show that and get wins, then it’s far easier to enjoy it and to relax. You have to keep the spotlight off the players. Certain things we have to do better, but it’s tweaks, not overhauls.”
