Swansea City remaining focused ahead of Barnsley tie

Speaking to the club’s official website, Swansea City manager Steve Cooper has said that his side are remaining level-headed ahead of their return to Championship action against Barnsley at Oakwell this weekend.

In their last game before the international break, Swansea City were defeated by bottom side Stoke City in a surprise result, leaving the Swans in 4th place in the Championship and one point behind table-toppers West Brom.

Now, speaking ahead of their return to action this weekend, Swans boss Steve Cooper has said that his side are remained level-headed, insisting that they have not been getting too low about the loss to Stoke but are not getting ahead of themselves despite their strong opening 11 games of the season. He said:

“We use the international break to reflect, as we would do anyway. Nothing has changed in that regard. We’ve had some great results this season so far. Off the back of the one at Charlton, we didn’t get too high.

“Although we’re disappointed by the defeat to Stoke we’re not going to get too low either. We’ll learn from it, we’ll step forward, we’ve dealt with the international break exactly as we planned and will get ready for Barnsley.

“I think the Stoke performance stands alone in terms of how it was. I don’t think it was similar to other performances. We fell short in too many ways, but it was a bit of a one-off in terms of pattern and the focus will be on looking at ourselves.”
