Bristol City midfielder believes the Robins replaced Marlon Pack well

Bristol City midfielder Josh Brownhill believes the Robins have replaced Marlon Pack well.

Pack, who was their captain, spent six years at Ashton Gate and racked up 282 appearances before leaving for rivals Cardiff City in August.

It was a big void for Lee Johnson’s side to fill but they moved into the transfer window to bring in Hungary international Adam Nagy from Italian side Bologna and Han-Noah Massengo from AS Monaco, both of whom have made a decent first impression this season.

Brownhill, who partnered with Pack in midfielder for three seasons, has talked about his former colleagues summer departure, as per a report by Bristol Live: “I was very close friends with Marlon and I felt when he went it was a big loss as he’s a good player.”

For me I was quite surprised but it’s Marlon’s decision and, what goes on behind the doors, it’s up to him. He’s a good player, last season he was excellent and the year before, and I think he’s been a big role model for me, being at the club since the age of 20. He was captain for a number of games, so I’ve learned a lot from him.”

He added: “Having the captain’s arm band for now, I’ve tried to take on parts of him, Bailey Wright and Korey Smith when he’s been captain as well. I feel like we’ve missed Marlon a lot but I feel like we’ve replaced very well. (Adam) Nagy’s been excellent, it’s a shame he’s been injured, and Han-Noah Massengo has been a breath of fresh air.”
