Former Sheffield Wednesday, Leicester City and Millwall man training with Bolton Wanderers

Free agent winger Ben Marshall is training with Bolton Wanderers.

The 28-year-old is hoping to earn a contract with the Trotters, according to journalist Alan Nixon on Twitter.

Marshall is in the hunt for a new club after leaving Norwich City in July. He has been linked with League Two new boys Salford City over recent days but it appears Bolton are in the driving seat now.

Keith Hill’s side are exploring potential free agent options as they look to bolster their squad. The North-West side are currently bottom of League One with -9 points but are confident of climbing up the league table.

Marshall is a vastly experienced wide man in the Championship and would be a decent acquisition in the third tier.

The Salford-born midfielder has had spells with the likes of Stoke City, Sheffield Wednesday, Leicester City, Blackburn Rovers, Wolves and Millwall.

Marshall joined Norwich last summer but struggled to break into Daniel Farke’s side as they were promoted to the top flight. He was shipped back on loan to Millwall for the second-half of the last campaign before his release in July.

He will be looking to get his fitness levels up and hopefully earn a contract with Bolton. Next up for the North-West side are back-to-back home games in League One against Blackpool and Rochdale, followed by an away trip to Bristol Rovers as they aim to start getting points on the board.
