Portsmouth left-back Brandon Haunstrup has confirmed that there was interest in his services over the course of the summer transfer window, with clubs said to be looking at bringing him in on loan.
With Brandon Haunstrup being the back-up left-back option behind Lee Brown, it has been said by the Portsmouth News that the 22-year-old was keen to head out on loan where he would be given more first-team football, only for manager Kenny Jackett to reject the approaches.
However, with Brown out injured, Haunstrup has been given a starting berth in the early stages of the season. Now, with Brown nearing his return, Haunstrup has said he is determined to fight for his place in Jackett’s side.
Speaking to the Portsmouth News, Haunstrup said:
“I’ve got a good few games under my belt now and think I’ve been doing well. I feel like I’ve been doing some good stuff for the team and now it’s about picking up some results for both me and the boys.
“There was some interest in me going out on loan, but I don’t really want to go into that too much now. I’m here, I’m playing and I just want to keep my place in the team. I want to help the boys get to where we want to be and where the fans want to be.
“It’s the same for him (Brown). That’s football and there is healthy competition. “I’ve just got to keep playing well and keep putting in good performances.”
