Former Leicester City, MK Dons and Watford winger rejoins Burton Albion

Former Leicester City, MK Dons and Watford winger Lloyd Dyer rejoins Burton Albion on a short-term contract, confirmed by the club website.

Former Leicester City, MK Dons and Watford winger Lloyd Dyer rejoins Burton Albion on a short-term contract after he has been training with the Burton Albion at St George’s Park.

Dyer oprates on the left wing or as a left wing-back and netted 15 goals in 84 appearances for Burton Albion during their two seasons in the Sky Bet Championship, in 2016/17 and 2017/18.

The 37-year-old last played a competitive game in March 2019, and last season he signed for Bolton Wanderers in September 2018.

Burton Albion manager Nigel Clough told the club website: “He’s been training with us for the last month, and with us being a bit short squad-wise with injuries starting to bite, Lloyd is just going to help out if we need him.

“We know him, he’s experienced and he knows us as a club and he’s very keen to keep on playing.

“This gives him a chance to hopefully get on the pitch and impress somebody to get something.”

Last weekend, Burton Albion suffered a late 2-1 defeat against Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park.

Midfielder Lucas Akins put Burton Albion ahead from the penalty spot in the 66th minute, but midfielder Ollie Banks equalised with a free-kick before striker Stefan Payne’s header found the back of the net for a dramatic winner.

After the game, manager Nigel Clough spoke to the club website about the match: “That’s why we are where we are in the league instead of being in the top three or four.

“It’s five points in the last few days. We should have had points against Ipswich and Rotherham as well. We are literally beating ourselves and throwing points away.”
