Rangers loanee comments ahead of Portsmouth clash with Southampton

Portsmouth lock horns with Southampton tonight in the Carabao Cup at Fratton Park.

The League One side are looking to cause a shock against their bitter rivals.

McCrorie, who is on loan at Kenny Jackett’s side from Rangers, has likened this South Coast Derby fixture to an Old Firm game.

The 21-year-old has slotted in nicely into Pompey’s side this season. He has made 55 appearances for Rangers so far in his career and has also had loan spells away at Ayr United and Dumbarton.

He has spoken to the Evening Times ahead of the game tonight: “I’m sure it will be intense, it will be fierce.
“I’m sure the atmosphere will be amazing – when I first came down here, a couple of taxi drivers told me all about it straight away!”

They told me how big it was and all about the history. It’s a massive game and I’m really looking forward to it. “

He added: “The Old Firm is amazing, one of the best games to ever play in, but this will be right up there as well.”

“We can’t get carried away and we need to stay level headed. Form goes out the window. It’ll be whoever is up for it on the day, we need to win individual battles.” The Old Firm is amazing, one of the best games to ever play in, but this will be right up there as well.
