On this day 24 years ago Tony Yeboah engraved himself into the legend book at Leeds United.

Leeds United have had many, many players that the fans have fallen in love with, from the gut busting efforts of Luciano Becchio and Andy Hughes, to the sheer volume of Jermaine Beckford’s goals… but one man is known for incredible goals, goals that defy physic… that man is Tony Yeboah.

That name is legend in West Yorkshire, when the Ghanaian signed for Leeds United as a 29-year-old from Eintracht Frankfurt in 1995, he was a relatively unknown prospect, but following some outstanding displays for The Whites, not to mention the small matter of twenty four goals in forty seven games, he is now forever engraved in Leeds United folk-law.

What Leeds wouldn’t give for a prolific and skilful player such as Yeboah these days as they look for the goals that their performances deserve, but the last time the man was in a white shirt was a cameo role in Lucas Radebe’s testimonial match in 2004.

Leeds United’s official Twitter account today marked the occasion with a clip of his incredible solo effort against Wimbledon in 1995, a goal that is many peoples favourite goal of the Premier League era even to this day, along with his other strike, from the same season against Liverpool.

Below is the goal in question, with some appreciative replies from the Whites fans…

I’m sure you would agree that this was an incredible strike, one that will live long in the memory of any football fan, let along Leeds fans.

Only a few come close since for technical ability and downright power.
