Tranmere Rovers snap up ex-Bolton Wanderers, Crystal Palace and Bury midfielder

Tranmere Rovers have confirmed on their official club website that midfielder Neil Danns has joined the club on a free transfer after becoming a free agent earlier this summer.

Free agent midfielder Neil Danns has found himself a new club, with Tranmere Rovers swooping to bring in him on a free transfer. He comes in to further bolster Micky Mellon’s midfield ranks, putting pen to paper on a deal until the end of the season.

Danns has been speaking to the club website upon the announcement of his arrival, saying:

“Once I was given the opportunity to come down and meet the manager, it is a Club that straight away I wanted to be a part of.

“What the lads have achieved so far with back-to-back promotions is unbelievable and you can see why they have done that when you speak to the manager because he has got a real appetite for football and that matches my own.

“Hopefully I can bring experience and when the fans see me, they’ll see the energy and appetite that I do play the game with, I’ve got that hunger and that drive.”

Tranmere boss Micky Mellon also spoke to the club website upon the announcement of Danns’ arrival, saying that he is happy to have brought in the 36-year-old.

“Neil Danns is a player that I have admired for a long time, he is a bit behind in fitness levels, but we are quickly catching that up, and he has an appetite to get fit very fast and he will do that.

“When anybody becomes available who we think can help us along and keep the consistency and tempo, then we will do that.”
