Micky Mellon says Tranmere Rovers are a match for anybody after their comeback against Peterborough United

Micky Mellon believes Tranmere Rovers are a match for any side in League One after their impressive comeback against Peterborough United last night at Prenton Park.

The hosts fought back from 2-0 down against the in-form Posh to earn a creditable 2-2 draw.

It is no secret that Tranmere have found the step up to League One tough so far this season after only one win in eight games, however, they will gain a lot of confidence from last night’s performance and result.

Peterborough took a two goal lead through goals from Mo Eisa and Ivan Toney, only for the Whites to fight back courtesy of goals from Liam Ridgehalgh and Ollie Banks.

Mellon spoke to their official club website after the match: “Talking over the whole performance, I thought we were keen, like we always are, as we are a very proud Football Club and want to make sure we represent Tranmere properly and we give the fans something worthwhile to come and watch and we have had a few years waiting for night’s like this.”

“We have run toe-to-toe with a Peterborough team who cost a fortune compared to our boys. We have got quality and we have got lads who want to improve, and we know and keep saying that it is a development job.”

He added: “When we are determined to hit the tempo of a game, we are a match for anybody, which was important for me and the performance. I felt even at 2-0 down we were still so much in the game and the Tranmere fans can see that the lads gave everything and they knew that it was harsh that we found ourselves two down.”
