Leeds United winger could be recalled by Tottenham Hotspur in January

Leeds United winger Jack Clarke could be recalled by parent club Tottenham Hotspur in January according to journalist Phil Hay.

Tottenham could activate a clause that will see out-of-favour winger Jack Clarke finally leave Elland Road in January after he was immediately loaned back following his summer move to North London.

Clarke played 25 games for Leeds last season but then Spurs swooped in and bought the winger for around £10million before allowing him to immediately return to Elland Road to continue his progress and develop his football in the Championship.

The Tottenham teenager has only featured in both of Leeds’ League Cup games of the season and for their Under 23’s and Premier League rules allow teams to recall loan players should they not make a certain amount of appearances.

The 18-year-old has found it particularly difficult to break into Bielsa’s side due to EFL rules stating that only five on-loan players can feature in match day squads with Clarke often being the one to miss out with the Whites currently having six players on loan.

Given the quality currently available in the Tottenham ranks, it’s almost impossible to see Clarke forcing his way into manager Pochettino’s plans ahead of the likes of Erik Lamela and Son Heung-Min should he leave Yorkshire for London at the turn of the year.

Spurs may however decide to loan out Clarke once again to a club that will guarantee him regular playing time which would be of more benefit to both Spurs and the players development.
