Brentford midfielder discusses why he made deadline day loan move away

Brentford midfielder Emiliano Marcondes has been speaking about why he opted to make a loan move away from Griffin Park, joining Danish side FC Midtjylland in a surprise move on transfer deadline day.

Emiliano Marcondes was heavily involved in Brentford’s opening games of the season, making the move somewhat surprising. He spoke about the reasons behind his decision to make a temporary move away, explaining that he was frustrated by the fact that he would not be a nailed-on starter, with manager Thomas Frank saying to his that there would be plenty of rotation in his side.

“I played a lot in the pre-season and in the first games of the season for Brentford, but I was a little frustrated,” Marcondes told BT (quotes via the Richmond and Twickenham Times).

“I had done okay in a match where I started and where we won. Then I was on the bench in the next match. I was frustrated with that. I have a much better feeling now here and am just looking forward to training every day and playing matches.

“There are many offensive players at Brentford. They seemed to need some fresh energy in the team. I didn’t agree with that. They (Frank) said it would be like that, with a lot of rotation in the attack throughout the season.

“I don’t need that because I’ve been hurt so much. I have to play 90 minutes every time. It’s a great opportunity to play at the top [club] in Danish football and come home, closer to my family. It’s nice that it’s not completely unfamiliar when it’s such a short stay. I had other opportunities in the Netherlands and Belgium.”
