Former Leeds United striker believes on-loan Manchester City star should be ‘doing better’

Former Leeds United striker Noel Whelan believes that on-loan Manchester City star Jack Harrison should be ‘doing better’ as reported by Football Insider.

Whelan was unimpressed by the youngster’s performance against Barnsley at the weekend and had criticism for Harrison.

Whelan blasted Harrison for missing a gift-wrapped opportunity to put Leeds 1-0 up in first half at Oakwell and claimed his performance was nowhere near of the standard of substitute Helder Costa who is on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Harrison was in the starting line up against Barnsley but so poor was his performance, he was hooked at half time by manager Marco Bielsa.

“Harrison should be doing so much better,” Whelan claimed. “He was invisible for most of the first half apart from when he missed a brilliant chance to put Leeds ahead.”

“All he had to do was hit the target and it’s a goal. It was a dreadful finish. You could see the disappointment on his face, and it was the reason he didn’t come out for the second half.”

“It was the right decision by Marco Bielsa as Helder Costa made an instant impact. He probably did more in his first five minutes of coming on than Harrison did in 45 minutes.”

There is much expected of Harrison this season but with the attacking players at Leeds’ disposal he will need to improve his performances if he wants to remain in the starting 11.

Harrison has made seven starts to far this season, scoring one goal but not having created any assists and this will need to be improved if he is to continue from the start for the Whites.
