Burton Albion manager Nigel Clough has his say on the free agent market

Burton Albion manager Nigel Clough has said he is happy with the balance of his current squad.

The Brewers have been no strangers to delving into the free agent market over the past couple of years under the former Derby County and Sheffield United boss but he has insisted he is satisfied with the players at his disposal.

Burton are competing in their second season back in League One and have started alright with three wins from seven games. They are currently 11th and two points off the Play-Off.

They finished 9th in the last campaign and are hoping to push on for the top six this term.

When asked whether he was interested in any free agent players, Clough said, as per a report by Derbyshire Live: “We’re very happy with the 17 (players) and we don’t want to hold the young lads back – even Jevan Anderson, although he wasn’t on the bench on Saturday.”

“Lloyd Dyer has been training with us. There’s a couple out there if we want them. But we are very pleased with the balance of the squad we’ve got at the moment. But we are very pleased with the balance of the squad we’ve got at the moment.”

Burton face a tricky test against Portsmouth at Fratton Park tomorrow night followed by another away fixture at Tranmere Rovers this weekend.
