According to a report from TEAMtalk, Championship pair Bristol City and Barnsley are joined by League One outfit Sunderland in scouting Motherwell’s 19-year-old striker James Scott, who has also been attracting attention from a number of Premier League sides.
Motherwell’s young talents have been attracting significant transfer attention over the course of the past few months. Winger Jake Hastie made a summer move to fellow Scottish Premiership side Rangers while midfielder David Turnbull was at the centre of a transfer battle between Celtic and Premier League outfit Norwich, and interest still remains in the young Scottish midfielder.
Now, however, it has been claimed that another one of the club’s young talents is attracting significant transfer interest. Striker James Scott, 19, is reported to be on the radar of Championship sides Bristol City and Barnsley, with Sunderland from League One also said keen.
The three sides are said to be among many scouting Scott in the early weeks of the season. However, they are joined by Premier League sides in holding interest in the striker as well. Everton, Sheffield United and Southampton are also keeping tabs on the development of the Scotland Under-21 international.
Since coming through the club’s academy, Scott has gone on to play 24 times for them in all competitions, scoring four goals and providing three assists in all competitions.
While the Football League trio hold interest, they may find it difficult to win the battle for him with Premier League sides lurking as well. It will be interesting to see if Motherwell are able to hold onto another young talent or if Scott is tempted away from the club.
