Five Hull City takeaways from Grant McCann’s pre-Wigan Athletic press conference

Hull City take on Wigan Athletic at the KCOM Stadium tomorrow and will be looking for their second win of the season. Here are five takeaways from Grant McCann’s press conference this week-

1.The club is united for Angus MacDonald- The Tigers are all with their defender and his battle with Bowel cancer. “Everyone at the Club – players and staff – sends their best wishes to him. I’m certain he’ll come back fighting. We’ll be supporting him every step of the way.”

2. All good on the injury front- Hull could hand a debut for left-back Callum Elder, who is also a former Wigan player, having seen him train all week.

3. Markus Henriksen and David Milinkovic have to fight for their place- McCann reiterated the fact that the duo, who both failed to secure moves away in the summer transfer window, are back part of the squad and have a chance of getting back into the side if they work hard and impress in training.

4. Nobert Balogh training- The Tigers are looking at the possibility of bringing in another striker after letting Nouha Dicko leave on loan for Vitesse. Balogh, formerly of Italian side Palermo, has been training with the Championship side. “Norbert has been in and has been good. We’ve got a decision to make.”

5. Interesting comments on Gary Hooper- There’s always going to be people putting two and two together and coming up with six. Hooper is a player that me and Cliff (Byrne) played with. We know what he’s about and that’s probably where the link has come from.”
