Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips has provided further reaction to him signing a new deal with an interview for LUTV as reported on their official website.

Phillips has recently signed a new five-year-deal keeping him at the Whites until the summer of 2024.

The 23-year-old had been constantly linked with a move away from Elland Road in the summer transfer window with Wolverhampton Wanderers and Aston Villa both interested in the midfielder.

However, he finally put the rumours to bed and signed a new deal with Leeds and he is thrilled to have finally put pen to paper.

“It’s a big moment in my career, I want to spend a lot of time at this club and to sign a new five year deal is a very proud moment for myself and my family,” said Phillips.

“I always talk about football, it is what I live for and my family have always supported me 100 per cent, if it wasn’t for my mum and my grandma, I don’t think I would be in this position now.”

“I’ve spent countless hours on the training pitches, I’ve put a lot of hard work in and sacrificed a lot, so I think I’ve deserved what I am getting.”

“This season we’ve got to get back in the Premier League and with the team and manager we have got, it would be a big opportunity wasted if we don’t get promoted.”

“We’ve got to push and push for promotion, we came so close last year and I think it has done the team good because we know what it takes and how much hard work it takes to get there. Hopefully we can have another good season like last year, but finish it off.”
