Huddersfield Town have appointed Lincoln City’s Danny Cowley as their new manager. Here are five things for the Terriers’ fans to know about him-
Concord Rangers heroics- Cowley started his managerial career in non-league with Concord Rangers and spent eight years with the Essex club. He guided them to three promotions during his time there from the Essex Senior Football League to the National League South.
Solid year with Braintree Town- The 40-year-old got an unfancied Braintree side into the National League Play-Offs during his only year there in the 2015/16 season after finishing 3rd. However, they lost to Grimsby Town over two legs.
League title and FA Cup quarter-final- Cowley left Braintree for fellow fifth tier side Lincoln in May 2016 and won the league with the Sincil Bank club in his first campaign there, as well as becoming the first non-league side to reach an FA Cup quarter-final. They beat Brighton and Hove Albion, Ipswich Town and Burnley before losing to Arsenal.
Checkatrade Trophy glory- The Imps won the Checkatrade Trophy in 2018 after beating Shrewsbury Town at Wembley as Cowley carved some Wembley glory into Lincoln’s history.
League Two champions- Lincoln stormed to the fourth tier title last season as Cowley won yet another trophy. His appointment at Huddersfield is the next natural upwards progression of his career and it will be intriguing to see how he gets on in the Championship.
