Reading have completed the signing of Simon Cox from Nottingham Forest with the striker signing a two-year deal at the Madejski Stadium.

The club’s official twitter account announced the signing.

Cox returns to the club in which he graduated from the youth system, joining the Royals aged just nine, but left after only appearing in the first team twice. The 27-year-old has played for Swindon and West Brom before ending up at the City Ground with Forest.

The Republic of Ireland international told the Royals’ website: “I’m very lucky to have played once for this football club and signing the second time feels just as good.

“I still know a lot of the players here so bedding in shouldn’t be too hard for me! I’m delighted to be here and I can’t wait to get started again.”

Reading kick of their Championship campaign this Saturday against Blackburn.
