Bolton Wanderers offer deal to recently released Rangers striker

According to a report from Football Insider, Bolton Wanderers have offered a contract to 24-year-old forward Joe Dodoo, who was released by Scottish Premiership side Rangers earlier this week.

On transfer deadline day, Bolton Wanderers managed to bring in nine new players to bolster their ranks. Now, with the window closed, new manager Keith Hill may not be done there. The former Rochdale boss will look to the free agent market to see if he can bring in more new players on cheap deals, and one man rumoured to be on his radar is forward Joe Dodoo.

Dodoo, 24, was released by Rangers on Monday after the player and club came to an agreement to terminate his contract by mutual consent. Now, after three years in Scotland, Bolton Wanderers could look to offer him a route back into English football. The club are said to have offered him a contract to try and further bolster their attacking options.

A versatile forward, Dodoo has spent the last two seasons out on loan at Charlton Athletic and Blackpool having fallen down the pecking order at Rangers under Steven Gerrard.

He came through the youth academy with Premier League side Leicester City, spending most of his time with the club in their youth sides as well as a short stint with Bury before leaving for Rangers. With The Gers, Dodoo scored five goals and provided three assists in 27 appearances. While on loan at Charlton, Dodoo scored twice in eight games and with Blackpool last season he managed six goals and four assists in 25.

Now, with Bolton looking to bring him in, it will be interesting to see where Dodoo will be playing his football this season after departing Rangers.
