Former QPR and Wycombe Wanderers defender joins Northampton Town

Northampton Town have confirmed on their official club website that defender Michael Harriman has joined the club on a free transfer after he was released by League One side Wycombe Wanderers earlier this summer.

Despite the transfer window being closed, clubs are still allowed to bring in free agents, and Northampton Town are one of the many teams to move to sign non-contracted players outside of the window. The Cobblers have moved in to sign right-back Michael Harriman, who joins on a free transfer after his release from Wycombe Wanderers.

The 26-year-old has been training with the club over the course of the past few weeks and he has impressed manager Keith Curle and settled in with his new teammates. Curle spoke upon the announcement of Harriman’s arrival, saying:

“Michael is a welcome addition to the squad. He is a first-class professional, both on and off the pitch, with a recent promotion from this level on his CV. Michael was very highly thought of by players and supporters alike at Wycombe, and we are delighted to be able to bring him to the club.

“He has been training with us for the last few weeks so he has already settled in well to the group, and we are delighted to welcome Michael to Northampton Town.”

Harriman came through the youth academy at Queens Park Rangers and went on to play just three times for the club’s senior team upon his breakthrough into senior football. He spent two spells on loan with Wycombe Wanderers before joining permanently in 2016, also spending time on loan with Luton Town and Gillingham.
