Young Plymouth Argyle forward Alex Fletcher has joined National League club Aldershot Town on an initial one-month loan deal according to reports by The Plymouth Herald.

The 20-year-old Newton Abbot-born frontman made seven first team appearances in all for The Greens last season but failed to find the back of the net.

It has been reported that Fletcher will continue his development with National League club Aldershot Town. The Shots are the second lowest scorers in the league so far this season and manager Danny Searle has turned to Plymouth Argyle forward Fletcher as he looks to improve his side’s ‘goals for’ tally.

Fletcher will initially spend one month at The Recreation Ground, although the loan arrangement could be extended.

The striker joined parent club Plymouth Argyle as an apprentice and went on to make his first team debut for the club in a goalless draw with Newport County at Home Park in 2016. Fletcher has since gone on to make a further 27 appearances for The Pilgrims in which he has scored three goals.

The youngster has previously played National League football during a loan spell with Plymouth Argyle’s neighbours Torquay United. Fletcher represented The Gulls for a short period during the 2017/2018 campaign.
