Fulham send £5.4 million man out on loan to Real Mallorca

Fulham goalkeeper Fabri has joined Real Mallorca on loan.

The 31-year-old will spend the season with the La Liga side, as announced by the Whites’ official club website.

Fabri, who has represented Spain Under-20’s in the past, has found himself down Fulham’s goalkeeping pecking order behind Marcus Betenelli and Marek Rodak.

The experienced shot stopper only joined the London side last summer from Besiktas for a fee of around £5.4 million but struggled to establish himself as their number one as they were relegated from the Premier League after a single season.

Fabri will now be hoping to help Mallorca stay up in the Spanish top flight in this campaign following their promotion from the Segunda Division last season. They are currently sitting 14th after three games.

The Las Palmas-born stopper has racked up over 200 appearances so far in his career. He started out with Deportivo La Coruna but never quite managed to break into their starting side as a youngster so moved onto have spells at Real Betis and Real Vallodolid.

Deportivo re-signed him in 2013 and he spent three years back at the Estadio Riazor before moving to Turkish giants Besiktas.

Fabri helped them win the Turkish Super Lig in 2017 and then moved to Fulham last year. It hasn’t worked out for him at Craven Cottage but he will now be relishing the opportunity of moving to Mallorca.
