Should Huddersfield Town turn to ex-Scunthorpe United, Southampton and Hull City boss?

Huddersfield Town remain in the hunt for a new manager to replace Jan Siewert.

Their former defender Mark Hudson remains in caretaker charge. Lincoln City’s Danny Cowley and Charlton Athletic’s Lee Bowyer have been linked over recent weeks but both seemingly look settled at their current clubs and have no intention of departing.

Another name is the running Nigel Adkins, who is available after leaving fellow Championship side Hull City at the end of last season.

The 54-year-old took over Hull in a similar situation to what Huddersfield are in now in 2017, which was the campaign after were the Tigers were relegated from the Premier League when they were languishing in and around the relegation zone in the second tier.

Adkins sorted Hull out and guided them to safety, rather comfortably in the end, in his first year there. His side then finished 13th last season and briefly flirting with Play-Offs for a couple of months.

Before his move to the KCOM Stadium, he had endured unsuccessful stints at Reading and Sheffield United but proved people wrong with the Tigers and won over their fans who were disappointed to see him leave in June.

Adkins has previously guided Scunthorpe United to two promotions to the Championship and went onto take Southampton from League One to the Premier League before being harshly sacked in January 2013 by the Saints.

He would suit Huddersfield at this moment in time and has the experience to lift them up the table this season. Could they turn to him now?
