Would these Championship clubs in the Premier League make it even more lucrative and entertaining?

The Premier League is a global brand, a business machine that generates billions of pounds for the clubs that are lucky enough to be members of it and those that find themselves as the decision making hierarchy, but would it be even more appealing with the following Championship clubs included.

Much has been said and written about certain Premier League clubs and the appeal that they bring being less than what some Championship clubs would, but which teams are we talking about from either league?

Now, obviously no club has a god given right to be a Premier League club, most larger scale clubs find themselves wallowing in lower leagues due to bad club management and awful financial decisions and some of the players that in past times would not be associated with the holy grail of the top flight find themselves benefiting from much more stringent and goal driven management.

The following lists are purely my opinion and are designed to take a look at what the Premier League could look like if things were different and are in no way derogatory views on those that currently hold their position at the top table.

So who could we swap?

If we took Brighton and Hove Albion, Burnley, Southampton, Norwich, Bournemouth and Watford out of the top flight and replaced them with…

Sheffield Wednesday, Leeds United, Nottingham Forest, Middlesbrough, Blackburn Rovers and Derby County, this would give us a Premier League of…

Arsenal

Aston Villa

Blackburn Rovers

Chelsea

Crystal Palace

Derby County

Everton

Leeds United

Leicester City

Liverpool

Manchester City

Manchester United

Middlesbrough

Newcastle United

Nottingham Forest

Sheffield United

Sheffield Wednesday

Tottenham Hotspur

West Ham United

Wolverhampton Wanderers

A purely hypothetical argument, but I believe this line up would provide excellent games week in, week out and would increase the appeal for the Premier League even further than it currently is.

But in reality, and I’m sure the fans of the removed teams would agree, the teams that are currently sat at the top table are their on merit, so in order to see the above table there would have to be a great swing in the fortunes of all the teams mentioned, so it is highly unlikely to happen anytime soon.

It would be good though wouldn’t it?
