Peterborough United trio complete late departures

Peterborough United have confirmed on their official club website that Scottish pair Mark O’Hara and Jason Naismith have returned to Scotland, joining Motherwell and Hibernian respectively. Attacker Isaac Buckley-Ricketts has also had his departure confirmed, leaving after his contract was terminated by mutual consent.

Peterborough United named midfielder Mark O’Hara and attacker Isaac Buckley-Ricketts on their transfer list upon the end of last season, while Jason Naismith was among those to also request moves away later on in the window over concerns over game time.

Now, the trio have all left the left. It was confirmed in the latter stages of transfer deadline day that Scottish pair Mark O’Hara and Jason Naismith had both moved back to Scotland after just a year at London Road, with the duo joining Motherwell and Hibernian respectively, both on loan deals.

Buckley-Ricketts has been looking to leave over the course of the summer, spending time on trial with League One side Southend United and League Two side Carlisle United without earning a deal. Now, he will be on the lookout for a new club with him being able to move outside of the window after his release.

O’Hara enjoyed a successful stint in the early stages of last season just after joining the Posh, impressing in the midfield of Steve Evans’ side. However, he fell down the pecking order and was sent out on loan in January. He helped Lincoln win promotion to League One and over the course of pre-season, he featured in Darren Ferguson’s plans. Now, he will hoping to impress back in Scotland with Motherwell.

Naismith was one of the many signings under Steve Evans in the summer of 2018. In his time with Posh, the 25-year-old has played 51 times, scoring one goal and providing five assists in the process. He will be hoping that having completed a move away, he will be able to get the game time he wouldn’t have had if he stayed at London Road.

Buckley-Ricketts will be less remembered at Posh. The former Man City youngster only played 57 minutes of football for the club, failing to make an impact under both Steve Evans and Darren Ferguson.
