According to a report from Football Insider, Fleetwood Town are set to beat fellow League One side Accrington Stanley to the loan signing of Premier League youngster Jimmy Dunne, who currently plays for Burnley.

Burnley defender Jimmy Dunne is way down the pecking order at Turf Moor but given that he is highly-rated by the coaching staff at the Premier League side, the club are keen for him to head out on loan to pick up more senior experience.

Having spent the last few seasons out on loan, Dunne is now reportedly set for another loan move away, with League One his expected destination once again. And having battled Accrington Stanley for his signature, it has now been reported that it is Fleetwood Town who will be bringing Dunne in on a temporary basis.

Should Dunne’s proposed move to Fleetwood go through as reported, he will become the Cod Army’s tenth signing of the summer transfer window. While continuing his development, Dunne will provide further competition and cover for fellow centre-backs Harry Souttar, Peter Clarke, Craig Morgan, Ashley Eastham and youngster Nathan Sheron in the process.

Dunne spent time in the youth academy at Manchester United before joining Burnley and has gone on to make his breakthrough into senior football with the Clarets. The 21-year-old has spent time out on loan at Barrow (21 appearances, two goals and one assist), Accrington Stanley (20 appearances, one assist), Hearts (14 appearances, two goals and one assist) and Sunderland (14 appearances, one goal and one assist).
