Blackburn Rovers bring 25-year-old ‘keeper in on trial

According to a report from Football Insider, Blackburn Rovers have brought in goalkeeper Ben Garratt in on trial, with the 25-year-old available on a free transfer after his release from Crewe Alexandra earlier this summer.

Until earlier this summer, goalkeeper Ben Garratt, 25, had spent his entire football career playing for Crewe Alexandra. He left the club upon the expiry of his contract having joined the club at the age of seven and has been on the lookout for a new club since.

However, with the new season underway, Garratt is yet to find himself a new club, but he has now been offered the chance to prove himself at a new club. Championship side Blackburn Rovers have reportedly brought him in on trial to see if he fits their criteria, and if he impresses manager Tony Mowbray and his fellow coaching staff, the club could look to offer him a contract with the club.

Blackburn could be looking to bring in another ‘keeper to bolster their ranks. Having let Spaniard David Raya leave for Brentford, they have only two senior goalkeepers. On-loan man Christian Walton and Jayson Leutwiler are the club’s senior ‘keepers, with youngster Andrew Fisher leaving on loan.

Over the course of his career, Garratt has played 246 senior games, all coming during his time at Crewe Alexandra. He made his debut for the club in 2013 and from their onwards, he went on to keep 54 clean sheets.

Now, he will be looking to impress Rovers in an attempt to join them on a permanent basis.
