Rotherham United set to sign Scottish winger who turned down Leeds United

According to a report from the Glasgow Evening Times, Rotherham United are set to complete a loan deal to sign winger Jake Hastie from Scottish Premiership side Rangers.

Jake Hastie’s busy summer transfer window looks set for some more action as we head into the final stages of the window. He joined Scottish Premiership side Rangers earlier this summer on a permanent basis from Motherwell, reportedly turning down Leeds United before making the move to Ibrox.

Now, it has been claimed by the Glasgow Evening Times that Hastie could end up moving south of the border after all. Rotherham United are reportedly set to snap him up on loan for the duration of the 2019/20 campaign, bringing him in to further bolster their attacking options.

Over the course of the year, Hastie, 21, has become hot property. He caught the attention of sides last season with his impressive performances for Motherwell. In his emergence into the first-team, Hastie scored seven goals and provided one assist in 18 games from the wing after spending time on loan in the lower divisions.

A number of Championship sides were said keen on signing Hastie this summer, but he instead opted to join Steven Gerrard at Rangers having been impressed by their sales pitch.

Since joining, Hastie has played twice for the club and now, the Gers have made the decision to send him out on loan where he will be looking to gain more first-team minutes and experience under the management of Paul Warne.

Warne has said recently that he was looking to add a winger or two to his ranks, and having completed the signing of Chiedozie Ogbene from Brentford earlier today (Thursday), he looks likely to add Hastie to his ranks as well.
