Bolton Wanderers could finally offer contract to Scotland international winger

Bolton Wanderers could finally offer a contract to free agent winger Craig Conway.

The 34-year-old has been training with the League One side for the past month or so but they have been unable to sign him due to their ongoing financial woes, as per a report by the Bolton News.

However, after news has emerged over a takeover, the Trotters can finally start preparing for the season and will be eager to bring in some acquisitions.

Conway, who is a Scotland international with seven caps under his belt, could be one of the first to put pen-to-paper for Bolton. He was released by Championship side Blackburn Rovers after five years at Ewood Park.

The experienced wide man has played over 450 games in his career and would be a solid signing by the Trotters.

He started out with spells in Scotland with Ayr United and Dundee United before moving down the border to sign for Cardiff City in 2011. He played 67 times for the Bluebirds and helped them gain promotion to the Premier League in 2013.

However, he was loaned out to Brighton and Hove Albion before leaving the Welsh side for Blackburn in 2014.

Conway became a key player for Rovers and made over 150 appearances for them, playing a key part in their promotion from League One in the 2017/18 season under Tony Mowbray.

Bolton are also hoping to sign Jack Hobbs on a one-year deal, as reported by The72 earlier today.
