Former England striker makes bold claim regarding Leeds United ace

Former England striker Darren Bent has claimed that Leeds United ace Helder Costa should be playing in the Premier League according to Football Insider.

The former Villa man expressed his surprise that Wolves allowed Costa to leave especially dropping down to the Championship as the Whites signed him on a season-long loan deal with a view to buy in the summer.

Costa was instrumental in guiding Wolves to promotion to the top flight two years ago but struggled to really make an impact last season as they enjoyed a seventh place finish to book their place in Europe.

The 25-year-old forward is thought to be good enough to play for a top flight club according to Bent but playing regular football for a second tier side maybe turned his head.

Bent explained: “Yeah, he’s brilliant. Right after they got him, I thought to myself: ‘What a signing, how have they managed to pull that off?”

“He’s so good, he probably should be playing in the Premier League, but he’s moved back to the Championship to play football. With Jack Harrison, it gives Bielsa a headache but a good headache.”

Despite the undoubted quality of Costa, he is yet to start a league game for Marco Bielsa’s side and has featured as a substitute in all five games.

His only appearance in the starting XI under Marco Bielsa came in the League Cup victory over Salford City, in which he set up Eddie Nketiah for a goal on his debut.

Leeds have certainly acquired a gem in Costa and with them once again pushing for promotion he will be a real asset to the team throughout the course of the season.
