PEC Zwolle in talks over loan deal for Reading forward

PEC Zwolle are in talks with Reading over a loan move for forward Andrija Novakovich.

The 22-year-old is set for a return to the Dutch Eredivisie this season, according to a report by Football Oranje.

Novakovich has fallen out-of-favour at the Madejski Stadium and is being allowed to depart once again this term.

He spent the last campaign on loan at Fortuna Sittard in the Eredivisie and scored 11 goals for them in all competitions.

Novakovich, who is an American international with three caps to his name so far in his career, moved to England in 2014 to join Reading and has since made three appearances for the Royals’ first team.

He gained his first taste of regular senior football on loan in the National League with Cheltenham Town during part of the 2015/16 season.

He then had a prolific loan spell with SC Telstar in the Dutch second tier for the 2016/17 campaign and scored 22 goals for them in all competitions.

Novakovich carried on his goal scoring exploits in the Eredivisie last season and could prove to be a shrewd signing for Zwolle now if they can conclude a loan deal for him.

He may have a future at Reading if he can carry on impressing in Holland but his chances of breaking into their side at this moment in time are slim meaning another loan move away is a sensible decision.

A move to Zwolle, who finished 13th last term, would see Novakovich link up with ex-Royals teammate Pelle Clement.
