Bradley Dack says Blackburn Rovers starlet can go on to have a “great career”

Speaking to Lancs Live, Blackburn Rovers star man Bradley Dack has tipped youngster John Buckley for a “great career”, having been impressed by him and his progression over the course of pre-season.

Blackburn Rovers academy graduate John Buckley’s emergence into the first-team picture at Ewood Park has been catching the eye of many, with playmaker Bradley Dack one of the many impressed by his potential.

Buckley, 19, emerged into the Rovers first-team last season after starring for the club’s Under-23s. He made two substitute appearances towards the tail end of last season and has featured in four games so far this season, starting in Rovers’ 3-2 win over Oldham in the League Cup.

And out of the academy players who floated around the first-team last season, Dack has said that Buckley has been “brilliant,” tipping him for a big future.

“I have been really impressed. He trained with us a few times last year and I thought he was a good player and this pre-season he has really kicked on.

“He was probably the best of the young lads to come up and he has been consistent in training and has been brilliant, he has got a big future ahead of him. He is not overawed, he is a confident boy, he has lots to work on but has the raw talent and I believe he can have a great career.”

“He is not even 20 yet, he is a midfielder that likes to run forward, he can play in the 10, off the left or the right or as an eight. He has got everything in his game to do it all.

“I don’t think he should nail down a position right now, I think he can find his feet and find his position as he goes on.”

Earning the praise of Dack will be a pleasant confidence boost for Buckley, as he continues to make his emergence into senior football. Manager Tony Mowbray also praised the youngster earlier this summer, saying that he would not be leaving on loan to allow him continue his development at Ewood Park and pick up first-team minutes under the watchful eye of Mowbray and his fellow coaching staff.
