Steve Cooper delivers verdict on Swansea City’s impressive 3-1 win over QPR

Swansea City boss Steve Cooper was impressed by his side’s performance on Wednesday night, after the Swans defeated Mark Warburton’s Queens Park Rangers 3-1 at the Kiyan Price Foundation Stadium.

Swansea City continued their strong start to the new season and impressive start to life under Steve Cooper with another strong performance, this time defeat Queens Park Rangers 3-1 away from home. The Swans are one of only four Championship sides to remain unbeaten at this stage, sitting level on points (but behind on goal difference) with league leaders Leeds United.

Goals from Bersant Celina, the rejuvenated Borja Baston and loanee Sam Surridge secured all three points for Cooper’s men, with Jordan Hugill getting the goal for QPR.

Now, speaking to the Swansea club website, Cooper has said that defeating QPR away from home is no mean feat and was impressed by the football his side played as they secured all three points.

“I think any three points away from home is good, but that tonight was one we were pleased with. I don’t think a lot of sides will come here and get three points, QPR are a good side, with a fantastic coach in Mark Warburton.

“But, in that first half, I thought we played some really good stuff. I would have liked us to create a few more clear chances. We got into good shooting areas, and we took the lead through a good pass from Andre and Bersant showed good composure to score.

“We were happy with the situation at half-time, we knew they would go for it and commit more bodies so we knew there would be chances to exploit at the back and that’s how it panned out. It’s great when that happens and now it is full focus and maximum effort before Birmingham on Sunday.”
