According to a report from French news outlet Foot Mercato, Birmingham City are also interested in Spanish free agent Alberto Redondo, who has also been linked with fellow Championship side Queens Park Ranger recently.

Earlier on in the summer transfer window, Queens Park Rangers were linked with a move for Spanish defender Alberto Redondo, who is available on a free transfer after his departure from La Liga outfit Getafe CF. Charlton Athletic were also said keen, but links with the Addicks died down.

However, the links between Redondo have recently re-emerged, and fellow Championship side Birmingham City are now being linked with a swoop for Redondo. Pep Clotet is willing to delve into the free agent market as he looks at the possibility of further reinforcing his squad. Foot Mercato have said that the Blues are keen on the 22-year-old, while a number of French sides have also been linked.

The likes of Montpellier, Lille OSC and Saint-Ettienne are all interested in a deal for Redondo and Stade Brest are reportedly in talks over a possible deal for the defender, with Nimes the latest French side to be interested in Redondo.

Getafe had attempted to keep him at the club by offering him a new contract earlier this year, but Redondo decided to reject the approach and move elsewhere in search of more first-team football and regular game time. He played just once for the club’s senior team since coming through the academy. The left-back was left to play most of his football for the club in the b-team, featuring in defensive midfield on occasion as well.
