Sheffield Wednesday winger joins Livingston on loan

Sheffield Wednesday winger Jack Stobbs has joined Scottish Premier League side Livingston on loan until January as confirmed on their official website.

The 22-year-old has signed until January 1st although there is an option to extend the deal. Stobbs has made six first-team appearances for Wednesday and a further eight more during a loan spell with Port Vale during the 2017-18 season.

Stobbs has been with the Sheffield club since the age of eight and penned his first professional contract in March 2014 but has failed to really break into the first team picture at Hillsborough.

Livingston also confirmed the news on their website and released a statement: “Jack is predominantly a right-footed winger but can also play as a second striker. Jack will add pace and directness to the Livingston forward line.”

The winger has had limited playing time so far despite making his debut five years ago and it is believed that a move north of the border will help progress his development as he looks to stake a first team claim at Sheffield Wednesday.

The Englishman could make his debut for his new club on Saturday when Livingston travel north to face Ross County in the Scottish Premier League.

Despite the current agreement being that he remains at Livingston until January, should it prove to be a fruitful loan spell then should it be agreed by both clubs and the player there is also the possibility of him being there until the end of the season.

With Stobbs’ contract expiring next summer this really is the time for him to show what he is capable and he will be hopeful of doing this in Scotland.

Livingston perhaps need something extra going forward. Aymen Souda, Lyndon Dykes and Lee Miller are the three options that when fully fit will fight for a place up front and Stobbs now adds a further option.
