Charlton Athletic finally announce capture of Premier League striker

Charlton Athletic have confirmed on their club website that Brighton and Hove Albion striker Tomer Hemed has finally completed a move to the club after a deal was initially agreed on transfer deadline day.

On transfer deadline day, Charlton Athletic came to an agreement with Brighton and Hove Albion to sign striker Tomer Hemed on a permanent basis. All the appropriate paperwork was handed in on time but a deal has taken some time to be ratified by the EFL and the FA.

Now, however, it has been confirmed that Hemed has joined the Addicks, agreeing to cancel his contract with the Premier League side, allowing him to make the move to Charlton Athletic. Speaking upon the confirmation of the deal, Addicks boss Lee Bowyer said:

“I’m really pleased we’ve been able to get this deal done. Signing Tomer gives us another option up front, something different to what we already have. I’m looking forward to working with him. I’d like to thank Dan Ashworth and Brighton & Hove Albion for the part they’ve played in getting this deal done.”

Hemed will come in to provide another option and further competition in Bowyer’s attacking ranks, with Lyle Taylor locking down the place as Charlton Athletic’s starting striker.

Hemed, 32, spent last season on loan with Queens Park Rangers after falling down the pecking order at Brighton upon their promotion to the Premier League. In his four years with Brighton and Hove Albion, the Israeli striker has scored 33 goals and provided 11 assists in 108 appearances
