Lee Bowyer discusses delay over Charlton Athletic signing of Brighton striker

Speaking to the South London Press, Charlton Athletic manager Lee Bowyer has said that he does not know what is holding up the club’s proposed signing of Brighton and Hove Albion striker Tomer Hemed.

Charlton Athletic were looking strike a deal for Brighton and Hove Albion striker Tomer Hemed on transfer deadline day, and the Addicks insist that all the necessary paperwork was handed in on time by both clubs.

The club are still waiting for the deal to be confirmed and ratified by the EFL, Despite saying last week that they expected to hear back from the EFL regarding the proposed deal for Hemed in the early stages of this week.

Now, Addicks boss Lee Bowyer has spoken to the South London Press regarding the dealy over the deal, saying that the club aren’t getting any answers.

“I don’t know why it has taken so long. The only thing I can think is maybe they are dealing with the problems at Bury and Bolton. That’s the only thing I can think of as to why they haven’t come back to us – which is wrong because it is the boy’s career.

“At the moment he is contacting Steve Gallen [head of recruitment] every day, two or three times a day, asking what is going on. We can’t give him answers because we aren’t getting any answers.

“Parksey [Chris Parkes, club secretary] and Steve are dealing with it.

“We think we’ve done it correctly. But if their focus is on other things it is wrong – it doesn’t take that long. Now it has been a week. It shouldn’t take a week to say yes or not. Even if they say no then we’re going to appeal it. So just get the process going. If they say no then say no and we go to an appeal.

“It suits everybody to do the right thing. The kid wants to come here, we want him here and Brighton want him here. It just doesn’t make any sense.”
