Reading starlet speaks out after failed move to Premier League side

Speaking on Instagram, Reading starlet Danny Loader has clarified the situation surrounding his proposed move to a Premier League side, after a switch to Wolves reportedly fell through on transfer deadline day.

Over the course of the summer transfer window, Reading youngster Danny Loader was heavily linked with a move away from the Madejski Stadium, with the likes of Premier League sides Arsenal, Chelsea and Italian giants Juventus among those keen to sign the striker.

But, it was Wolves who are said to have come closest to signing him on deadline day, with a move failing to materialise. Now, Loader has come out to add some clarity to the situation, confirming that he was the subject of an offer from a Premier League side and also stating he did not hand in a transfer request at Reading.

He said:

“Good morning guys. I want to write this message to be open with all of you. Everyone knows a Premier League club tried to sign me in the transfer window, but it wasn’t to be.

I’m very ambitious, my dream is to play on the biggest stage and you never know when these opportunities will come around again. I hope that is understandable. To be clear I never handed in a transfer request and I trained on Thursday and Friday. I’ve been at Reading for years and I’ll always be respectful towards the club.

Loader featured frequently in the first-team picture at the Madejski Stadium over the course of the 2018/19 Championship season, coming in from the club’s youth academy to play 21 times in the Championship, scoring one goal and providing one assist.

The 18-year-old’s strong form for the club Under-23s side saw him impress Jose Gomes. In 11 Premier League 2 games, Loader netted an impressive 10 goals, including four braces. Loader has also scored 10 goals in 18 games for the club’s Under-18s side, working his way through the club’s youth ranks since joining in 2012.

Loader has represented England at four different youth levels as well. He has amassed 39 appearances for the country’s Under-16s, Under-17s, Under-18s and Under-20s in total, netting 14 goals for the Young Lions along the way.
