Former Manchester City and Swansea City striker Wilfried Bony is currently training with Newport County in shock reports according to Dai Sport.
The former £28million man has linked up with Newport whilst also being employed as a personal trainer in order to keep in peak physical condition in preparation for the next stage of his career.
Newport manager Michael Flynn is delighted to have Bony, who scored for the Ivory Coast in the African Cup of Nations, training with the club. “Great to have Wilfried Bony training with us,” said Flynn. “Excellent work ethic, professionalism and standards. Boys will take a lot from this.”
Wilfried Bony, who is yet to secure a club after his release from Swansea City at the end of last season, spent the latter half of last season on loan at Al-Arabi in Qatar.
The 30-year-old had an impressive spell whilst at Swansea and scored 34 goals in 70 appearances for the Welsh side between 2013 and 2015. He failed to reach those heights in his big money move to Manchester and only netted 10 times in 46 appearances for the Premier League winners.
He has since had loan spells with Stoke as well as in Qatar and is now on the lookout for a new club. The Ivorian striker’s Swans contract officially ended in June and he is now training with the League Two club having struggled to find a club since returning from international duty.
Bony recently revealed he is undergoing a vigorous training regime with a personal trainer to ensure he is ready to return as soon as he is called upon.
